WGEA Employer Statement
Our commitment to a fair and inclusive workplace
Mission Australia is committed to creating a workplace where people are treated fairly, feel safe, experience belonging and have opportunities to contribute, develop and progress. Being open about our gender pay outcomes is part of how we hold ourselves accountable and build trust with our people, partners and the communities we serve.
Progress towards greater pay equity
In 2025–26, Mission Australia improved its gender pay gap, with results reflecting positive progress towards greater pay equity. This outcome demonstrates the impact of sustained focus on workforce composition, pay governance and equitable people practices.
Understanding the gender pay gap
The gender pay gap reflects the structure of our workforce and the nature of the work we do. As an organisation delivering community, care and support services across Australia, many of our roles sit within occupations that are traditionally female-dominated. Differences in role types, classification levels, seniority and working patterns all influence overall pay outcomes. These factors are consistent with trends across the community services sector.
Women are represented at all levels of Mission Australia, including in leadership. We also recognise that a gender pay gap is different from unequal pay for the same work. Improving pay equity requires more than a single initiative or short-term adjustment; it takes sustained effort, careful analysis and informed decisions over time.
Our approach to improvement
Mission Australia is focused on strengthening its understanding of the drivers of its gender pay gap and embedding practices that support fairness and opportunity. This includes ongoing gender pay gap analysis, strengthened governance and reporting to senior leaders and people practices that support flexible work, parental leave and inclusive pathways for progression across a diverse range of roles and classifications. We are committed to reviewing our approaches, listening to feedback and taking practical steps that support improvement.
Transparency and accountability
This Employer Statement has been prepared voluntarily to provide context alongside Mission Australia’s WGEA gender pay gap data. It is intended to support a clear and balanced understanding of our results, acknowledge the structural factors that influence them and communicate our ongoing commitment to transparency and improvement.
Leadership and oversight
Mission Australia’s Executive and governing body provide oversight of this work and remain committed to monitoring progress over time. We recognise that meaningful change requires openness, shared responsibility and sustained action, and we will continue to embed equity and accountability into our people practices as part of our broader mission.
