Mission Australia's Strategy 2030

Discover how our five-year strategy will expand impact, deliver more safe, secure homes, and build a stronger, fairer future.

A bold plan for impact and change

Mission Australia's Strategy 2030 is our bold five-year plan that will guide our efforts to deliver more safe, secure homes, expand our impact and strengthen our organisation to meet human need in Australia.

Strategy 2030 has three Strategic Directions: Greater Impact, Safe, Secure Homes, and Empowering Change.

From July 2025 to June 2030, Mission Australia will focus on these areas — directing our energy to where we can grow, improve and invest to make the greatest difference in people’s lives.

Guided by purpose. Driven by people.

Strategy 2030 will help Mission Australia deliver more early intervention, prevention and targeted support, service excellence, grow our social and affordable homes paired with support, and strengthen the communities we work in.

To do this, we're strengthening our support for our staff and organisation. This helps Mission Australia best serve people at their time of need while remaining resilient, inclusive and future-ready, with exceptional leadership and a courageous voice advocating for a fairer nation.

As need grows across the country we’ll focus on early and targeted support, delivering service excellence, growth in social and affordable homes, and building stronger communities.

Together, we're building hope and possibility for all.

Mission Australia's Strategy 2030 is shaped by insights from our people and those we serve and powered by our staff and volunteers. It honours our more than 165-year legacy, while boldly looking ahead.

Our three strategic directions

Our Strategy 2030 is our plan for the five years between July 2025 and June 2030. It will guide where we focus our energy and efforts to deliver more safe, secure homes, expand our impact and strengthen our organisation to meet human need in Australia. Under Strategy 2030, we have three Strategic Directions, each with three areas of focus:

Greater impact

We're committed to expanding our impact and making a real difference in people's lives. Every service, home, partnership and action should lead to better outcomes that last, so the people we serve can live their best life.

We're focusing our efforts where we can make the biggest difference, where our skills, experience and evidence show we're most effective. We're growing early intervention and prevention services, and delivering service excellence organisation-wide. By focusing investment where we're needed most, we're helping build stronger, more resilient communities.

Our three Focus Areas:

  1. Deliver service excellence across all our program pillars
  2. Expand early intervention and prevention services
  3. Targeted investment for community impact

Our next bold chapter - looking ahead with purpose

Strategy 2030 was shaped by the insights of hundreds of staff and people who access our services and live in our community homes. It is brought to life by more than 2,500 dedicated staff and 1,000 volunteers.

We are deeply grateful for everyone’s commitment and contribution to our shared goals. As we move forward with purpose, we honour those whose vision and compassion brought us this far.

Measuring our impact

Our Monitoring, Evaluation and Learning frameworks provide a systematic approach to measuring our impact and gathering evidence, so we can:

  1. Continuously improve our services to deliver the best possible support
  2. Maintain transparency and accountability
  3. Advocate for evidence-based change for people and communities experiencing disadvantage.

We're strengthening how we measure our impact across five key focus areas:

Stable housing

Health and wellbeing

Support and connection

Choice, control and independence

Stronger community
