Annual report New South Wales and Australian Capital Territory
Together, in FY24-25 we supported 50,874 people in NSW & ACT on their journey towards independence.
A message from our State Director (NSW & ACT)
This year we assisted 50,874 children, young people, adults and families in NSW and ACT to secure safe homes, strengthen their families, and improve their wellbeing and independence.
We are always honoured to serve our clients, who trust us with their stories and allow us to be part of their journey. We are constantly inspired by their resilience, courage, and hope, and look forward to continuing to provide them with the best possible service and support, tailored to their individual needs and goals.
There are many wonderful achievements to celebrate over the year, a few of the highlights include:
- Our strong and successful partnership in Regional NSW West with Murdi Paaki has resulted in the successful tender for the new Core and Cluster program in Lighting Ridge.
- The commencement of the new Multicultural and Homeless Access service in the Northern Sydney area funded via Sydney North Primary Health Network (PHN). Working in collaboration with the co-funded Streetside Medics service, this program is designed to improve primary care access in the Northern Sydney region for vulnerable communities.
- Delivering the new Sydney Southwest Parent Pathways pre-employment program as a completely new voluntary program, helping parents back into the workforce.
- Partnering with Coordinare in Southern NSW, we also established a new early intervention program called RESET that provides individual and immediate support to young people seeking to address their alcohol and other drug (AOD) concerns.
This year we continued our focus on the well-being of our people, especially as increased housing demand and cost of living pressures bit hard for so many.
The impact we have is only possible through the commitment of our dedicated staff and the support of our partners, funders, supporters and collaborators.
Thank you, and we look forward to your continued support.
Warm regards,
Di Kapera

Our work in focus
Client advisory panel
In November 2024, we launched our first-ever Client Advisory Panel. Ten people with lived experience provide advice and recommendations to shape the future of our services.
- Members have been a client or tenant within the last two years and reflect the diversity of people we support.
- The panel creates a direct link between the people we serve and our leaders, helping us better meet community needs.
- Their insights have informed our new Strategy 2030 and refreshed Vision.
- Members report feeling heard and value the opportunity to embed lived experience into decision-making.
“It has been inspiring to hear the panel insights and see how these have been incorporated into the strategic plan and organisational frameworks.” – Juanita Ford, Service Design and Innovation Lead

Enabling our people
We’re committed to supporting the people who make our work possible. In 2024 we:
- Made 485 fixed-term roles permanent for greater security
- Achieved our lowest voluntary turnover on record at 16.7%
- Introduced a new Enterprise Agreement with enhanced parental leave, wellbeing days and reproductive health leave
- Strengthened diversity and inclusion through a new employee reference group
- Embedded wellbeing and psychosocial safety with team action plans

Advocating for a fairer nation
With our evidence and courageous voice, Mission Australia continued to advocate for a fairer nation and better outcomes for the people and communities we serve
- With 2025 being an election year, we amplified our engagement with government, policymakers to keep housing, youth support, and ending homelessness on the national agenda.
- We engaged through policy submissions, campaigns, media, and direct dialogue with decision-makers.
- We worked with partners to deliver practical, long-term solutions that strengthen services and increase affordable housing.
