Summary

The Townsville Youth Foyer provides safe housing, wraparound support and pathways into education and employment for young people experiencing or at risk of homelessness. Over its first two years, the Foyer supported 64 young people to build independence, strengthen wellbeing and work towards their goals through a strengths-based and youth-led model of support.

Key outcomes

  • 64 young people supported since opening in July 2024.
  • 95% said the Foyer provided a secure home base.
  • 87% felt confident managing and maintaining a tenancy.
  • 85% of exiting residents achieved their education goals.
  • 72% of exiting residents achieved a positive employment outcome.
  • 88% felt supported by people who believed in them and their goals.
  • 62% reported improved overall wellbeing.
