Summary

The Priority Project helps women and children experiencing domestic and family violence access safe and secure private rental housing. An independent evaluation found the Western Sydney pilot provided an important pathway into the private rental market, helping women secure housing, sustain tenancies and improve their wellbeing, safety and future security.

• 32 women and 62 dependents secured housing during the pilot.
• All women housed through the program sustained their tenancy during the evaluation period.
• Women reported meaningful improvements in safety, wellbeing and peace of mind after being housed.
• Supporting women to be “application ready”, alongside person-led case management, was critical to success.
• Strong relationships with real estate agencies and a dedicated Partnership Broker helped women access the competitive private rental market.
• The pilot delivered an estimated $1.07 million in annual social and economic benefits.
