Volunteering is one way you can support communities to thrive
Volunteers are a vital part of Mission Australia. Each year, thousands of people generously share their time, energy and expertise to support our services and make a difference in communities across the country.
Whether you’re looking to connect with your local community, use your skills for good, or take a first step into the social services space, we welcome your interest in volunteering.

What you need to know
Background checks
Most volunteer roles require a National Police Check. If you’re working directly with children or young people, a Working With Children Check will also be needed.
Safety and wellbeing
Mission Australia is committed to keeping children and young people safe, with zero tolerance for harm or abuse. Every employee and volunteer is expected to uphold this commitment.
Training and support
Some roles include formal training before you start. Every volunteer is supported by a local contact person and our national volunteering team — we want your experience to be positive, supported and worthwhile.
